Trees of local interest

Barcelona has more than two hundred protected trees.

Trees and palm trees that are very valuable for the city and form part of a municipal catalogue, the Catalogue of Trees of Local Interest, as they have become unique examples that stand out for various reasons, either for their historical value, their age, their uniqueness or simply for their spectacular nature.

Here you will find a 14-metre high fig tree (Blanca Selva i Henry gardens) or a 22-metre high rubber plant (Parc de Safo), as well as the spectacular cedars of the old barracks, the Casernes de Sant Andreu.

There is also an araucaria from Norfolk (Australia) in the Casa de la Misericòrdia, a 19-metre tall orange tree from Louisiana in the Parc de la Ciutadella, and the hundred-year-old magnolia in the Jardins de la Maternitat one of the most unique specimens in Barcelona.
